Feb 8: Westwood: Financing Start-ups. There are myriad ways to finance a start-up company -- including friends, family, credit cards, "professional" angel groups like the Tech Coast Angels and the Pasadena Angels, venture capitalists and some forms of debt (other than personal credit cards). And there is always, of course, internal cash flow generated from sales. The panel of savvy experts will discuss how to match the right source of financing to the company's stage and industry, and what each type of third-party financier likes to see before making a transaction. Feb 15: San Diego: UCSD 8th Annual Disciplines of Engineering Career Fair [DECaF]. Students and company representatives will have the opportunity to interact and engage in career discussion in science and engineering. All UCSD undergraduate and graduate engineering students are specifically invited to attend. Last year, over 1,200 engineering students attended DECaF. Students were able to explore career options, possible permanent or summer employment opportunities and internships. The event is scheduled from 10:00-2:00 p.m. at Price Center.
