The goals of UC Discovery Grants are:

• To advance knowledge through supporting high-quality research relevant to California’s economy with grants jointly funded by UC, the State and California’s established and emerging industries.
  
• To build lasting relationships between UC researchers and California industry to enhance the state’s economy and to help address critical problems facing California.
  
• To enhance student training to prepare California’s future workforce and industry leaders.
  
• To accelerate the transfer of research discoveries and technological advancements to California industry, for public benefit.
